Church News

Dear Church Family,

  • There are just two more opportunities to attend the Franklin Graham Christian Life and Witness course. Both are this week and on our side of town. Please try to make it to one of them. Most of our fellowship have already attended or plan to this week and I would not like you to be left out of what God is doing in our church.

    • God has laid on Franklin's heart that he must not pass by Presidio. The last census shows roughly 4,000 people live there. Franklin's staff told him there is no venue he can use but he insists on going. If you would like to go on a mission trip, this might be the place to go. God must be planning something big there. It is also the last town he visits before arriving at El Paso. They would like to have people go to every house and give them an invitation. If this is something that interests you, please let me know. I will put you in touch with the person in charge of that event.
    • I think everyone can see that our church is experiencing some growing pains. Wednesday night is especially growing both in the number of people attending and the number of ministries functioning. We are also seeing folks from outside our congregation attending and beginning to seek God. Please pray God will increase our resources to meet the needs of these new families. Following is what we are looking at for Wednesday evenings for the next several months.
      • Please bring your Christian Life & Witness book you received from the Franklin Graham course. I will be taking us through this study for the next three Wednesday evenings in preparation for the event in March but also for what God is doing in our church right now. I will also be letting you know what we intend to do with the Wednesday evening Bible study for the following four months. God is moving in great ways and this is a wonderful time as we attempt to keep up with Him.
      • We still need some more helpers in the kitchen on Wednesday nights. Our intent is to have enough people to rotate that it is not a burden on anyone. Please see Grace if you would like her to add your name to the roster as either a helper or as a lead cook.
      • We also still need more helpers in the nursery on Wednesday nights. Again, if we have enough people, you would only need to serve there once every three months or so. Please see Lori or contact me if you want your name added to the roster.
    • Please continue to pray for resources for the school as God has brought us to this month-by-month season. He has brought in enough funds to make payroll for all of February and March. I am beginning to see some other doors opening to bring more students. I will begin investigating those opportunities this week. Please keep me in your prayers.
    • Our pregnancy help center is up and running in a limited way. We are training and praying, organizing and building from scratch. If you would like to come see what it is all about, please consider sitting in on one of the training sessions. They take place on Thursdays, at 1:00 PM in the new building. The official name of the ministry and new building are now, Vista Hills Family Help Center. For brevity's sake, I will probably refer to it as the Family Help Center or just Help Center from now on. Please be praying for diapers and maternity clothes. We are forever short of these.
    • I would like to give a special acknowledgement to our deacons and their wives. God has so blessed us with these most wonderful church leaders. I personally don't know what I would do without them. Everywhere I look, I see a deacon watching over the flock, leading by example and joyfully serving the Lord by serving His church. Please join me in praying for them, their families and that their labor continues to be a joyous one.
    Your Servant,
    Randy
